Stint

How Stint compares

Stint is for people who want to focus with a group: everyone pays the same entry fee into a prize pool, their phones verify the work, and everyone who qualifies splits it. If you'd rather block apps on your own, work beside a partner on video, or put money behind a goal that isn't screen work, one of these apps may suit you better, and each page says so.

The comparisons

How we compare

Every fact about another app comes from that app's own website or App Store page, checked on the date shown. If we couldn't confirm something, it isn't on the page. We don't rank apps, and each page says where the other app is the better pick.

How Stint works

A group, a daily focus goal and a prize pool. Your phone keeps score.

  1. Step 1

    Join a pool

Every member pays the same entry fee into the prize pool. The goal, length and any platform cut are shown first.

  2. Step 2

    Focus

Time counts only in your work apps. The apps you chose to block stay blocked during a session.

  3. Step 3

    Your phone verifies it

Your phone reports each minute of a session to Stint. No self-reporting.

  4. Step 4

    Qualify and split

Meet the goal on the days the rules require. Everyone who qualifies splits the prize pool equally.

The full rules are on how Stint works, and the arithmetic of the split, with a worked example, is on how prize pools work.

Still deciding?

Stint is free to download, so you can look around before you join a pool.

Try a pool

You pay a pool's entry fee only when you join one. Stint Pro is optional, US$5.99 a month.
