How Stint works
A group, a daily focus goal and a prize pool. Your devices keep score, and everyone who qualifies splits it.
The four steps
- Step 1
Join a pool
Pick a pool or create your own. Its entry fee, daily goal and length are shown before you join.
- Step 2
Focus
Time counts only in your work apps. The apps you chose to block stay blocked.
- Step 3
Your devices verify it
Your phone reports each minute of a session to Stint. No self-reporting.
- Step 4
Qualify and split
Meet the goal on the days the rules require. Everyone who qualifies splits the prize pool.
The rules of a session
What counts, what's blocked, and what happens if a day goes wrong.
What counts as focus
Time counts only while you're in the work apps you chose, and only during a session. An idle phone adds nothing.
Only what you choose is blocked
Nothing is blocked unless you pick it, and only while a session runs. Unlocking a blocked app anyway ends that day's session, and Stint asks you first.
Emergency apps
Choose up to two apps you might really need. They stay usable for a few minutes a day, then they're blocked again. Social apps can't be emergency apps.
If you don't qualify
You forfeit your share and the people who qualified split the prize pool. The most you can lose is your entry fee. You're never charged more for missing a goal.
Start on iPhone
Your phone runs the challenge. Link a computer or browser and its work counts toward the same session.
